Notes for April 22, 2010 meeting

Event recap:

Last activity was the Adventuree in March.  Axe throwing went well.  Event was good.

 

Upcoming Events:

 

1)      Rappelling: This activity has been confirmed for June 5th at Rock State Park. Bob Gallo is going to email details, but the basic plan is to meet in the park around 9:30 am. 

 

2)      CPR/first aid dates are still pending.  It will either be the first three or last three Tuesdays in May.

 

3)      Weather presentation by Donna: Todd has not rescheduled.  He wants to get a time/date when we will have good attendance.

 

4)      SCUBA Intro; Will be filled on a first come first serve basis.  Cost is $15. Trying to arrange for May 25.  This will be a combined Troop/Crew event. 

 

5)      “Cope Course”: Cope course is $200 for a day.  This fee will be split between attendees.  If the scouts are not interested in doing the cope course, we can set it up as an adult team building session and invite the troop and other crew leaders.  Due to time restraints, we are looking to postpone until September 18th when we have weekend camping planned.

 

6)      Super Activity: We talked about doing a multi day trip that could include rafting, kayaking, tubing, rappelling, ATVs, etc.  Maybe around July 10th.

 

7)      Lock-in: This is planned for December 10-11, 2010 not December 2009 as listed previously.  Bowling is $7-10.  Also looking at broom hockey, laser tag, and a movie back at the slip-in location. No updates.

 

To Be Done:

1)      Car Show; No updates

 

2)      Crew wants to do a day activity on May 15 (for those not going on the rafting trip).  Possible activities: sailing, wind surfing, ATV(min age in MD is 14), hike, swim, paint ball, laser tag

 

3)      “Super Activity” We are looking at a summer super activity.  Todd is going to check with Appalachian Wildwaters outfitters near the New and Gauley rivers to see what programs they have.

 

4)       From Mr. Todd’s email:  T-shirts need to be finally approved.  40 shirts with the logo that was sent out are priced at $399.60 ($9.99/ea).  This is for a one color front / one color back design.  Are we doing this or not? No update.

 

5)      “Lost Pines” water facility near Broad Creek was offered to the crew as a day event.  Need to postpone until warmer weather. No Update

 

6)      Paint Ball:  We need to set up a date and decide if we want to go to a facility or to an area near Wesley’s church. We would need to borrow or buy guns if we did this option. Several scouts interested.  No update.

 

7)      Elections: Need to hold elections.

 

8)      Todd is going to talk to ship 361 about hooking up with them to go sailing.

 

Fundraising:

 

1)      Car show is still being planned out.

 

Announcements:

 

Crew is talking about buying a wake board since this is becoming a repeat event. No update.
