Minutes from September 7, 2008 meeting: reviewed at meeting.

Event recap:

Caving trip to Laurel Caverns was nice.

Upcoming Events:

1) Fall Rendezvous: Arielle may be going.  The rest of the crew is not interested.

2) Christmas Party: District is having a party on December 13 from 6-10 pm.  All crew are supposed to come up with an activity.  Our crew is supposed to come up with gift exchange/game.  Arielle email the flyer and address of party Linden Lithicum United Methodist Church, 12101 Linden Lithicum Lane, Clarksville , MD 21029

3) Earth Treks is having a scout day on November 5^th.  Todd is going to get more details, but for now is appears to be 2 hours for $10.  We are also looking at the possibility of another day at the Columbia sport center where we did the last climb.  Todd is taking a “top rope” course that will allow additional belaying.  Todd said that interested individual should contact him.

4) Winter Rendezvous: Broad Creek on Jan 2-4.  Crew 851 is scheduled to run the event.  Lee said that he, Zach and Ben may be interested.

5) SCUBA intro:  We are planning on doing another class on January 8, 2009.

6) Ski Trip to Timberline with troop: The date is now January 30 – February 1, 2009, not the MLK weekend.

7) Adventuree: March 27-29

To Be Done:

1) We need to think about activities to do at future meetings.  The goal is to have business done in 20-30 minutes and then do the activity to make the meeting more fun and informative.

2) Plans are to have a long skiing/boarding trip for the “Super Activity”. Lee provided rough detail on locations and prices for ski resorts in Colorado.  He will have more information at the next meeting.

3) In preparation for a long ski trip, the crew plans to do several day trips.  Everyone is tasked to come up with trips that are within a 2 hour drive.  Wes is going to talk to a friend that lives on a ski resort to see if he can get discounted ski tickets/packages.

4) The crew has been tasked to find a community service project. Some suggestions have been doing a project at Wesley’s church, helping Mt. Hebron with their cleanup and spring festival, assembling kits/baskets for the needy.

5) We need to find out date of Mount Hebron cleanup and spring festival. (Dale sent email to church).

6) Dale needs the electronic copy of the 2009 calendar.

7) Arielle sent out a copy of the proposed tee shirt design.  Please check it out and send comments.

Fundraising:

1) “Krispy Kreme”: Most of the 50 cards were sold. There are only a few outstanding.  We need to wrap up this fundraiser!!!!!!!

2) Ashleigh is working things out with Chee burger Chee burger.  A tentative date is December 8.  We need to see if Mt. Hebron will put the date on the church bulletin.

3) Ashleigh is going to contact Dominos’ Applebee’s for fundraiser. 

4) Contact at Wal-Mart recommended that we sell hot chocolate (or cider) during holiday season.  They may even be able to match the monies collected.

5) If we are going to do holiday fundraising at a retail store, we need to schedule it soon!!!!  Possibilities are selling gift wrapping and wrapping at a store (Ashleigh), carrying packages to cars, and subs for Super Bowl.

Announcements:

Gabe and assistants have built the flying squirrel boxes for Fort Smallwood Park.  The date to hang the houses is November 1 at 10:30 am.

Possible future activities: rappelling, climbing wall (possibly Nov or Dec), four wheeling (ATV), horseback riding, snowmobiling, kayaking/canoeing, rafting, snow tubing, snow skiing/boarding, water skiing/wake boarding, backpacking, hiking, SCUBA intro (and beyond), shooting, archery.

Elections: The crew decided to keep the same people in leadership positions.

 November 2, 16, 30,  December 14, January 4, 18 (every two weeks there after)
