Notes for October 18, 2009 meeting

Minutes from previous meeting: October 4, 2009 minutes were not discussed

 

Event recap:

No events during interim.

 

Upcoming Events:

 

1)      Registration for 2010: Fee is $10.90.  Please pay no later than Nov. 30

 

2)      Spaghetti dinner: Rescheduled for March 20, 2010.

 

3)      SCUBA Intro; Will be filled on a first come first serve basis.  Cost is $15. Postponed until January.  Todd will try to set up a date..

 

4)      “Cope Course”: Postponed due to no response from Broad Creek.  Tentatively rescheduled for May 22, 2010.  Cope course is $200 for a day.  This fee will be split between attendees. 

 

5)      Warrenton Hike: Wes is working on getting information on this event.  Tentatively scheduled for April 3, 2010.

 

6)      Fall Rendezvous:  Event was moved to weekend of October 9-11; we missed it.

 

7)      Ski trip to Poconos: Lift tickets are running around $155 for the weekends of Dec 26-28 and Jan1-3. Weekday day tickets are cheaper so we are considering Dec 29-31.  Resorts are supposed to be sending package rates by November 1st.  We need at least 15 people to get discounts.  Event is for Venture Scout, and immediate family.

 

8)      Sunday night skiing: Ashleigh will see which Sunday nights are scout nights?  We need a minimum of 15 scouters.

 

9)      Lock-in: This is planned for December 10-11, 2010 not December 2009 as listed previously.  Bowling is $7-10.  Also looking at broom hockey, laser tag, and a movie back at the slip-in location.

 

10)    Weather presentation February 21, 2010.

 

To Be Done:

1)      Car Show postponed until spring. We need to check dates for other shows and advertise early next spring/summer.

 

2)      Ashleigh is going to come up with meeting activities since the crew has not been responsive to her request for activities

 

3)      “Super Activity” We are looking at a summer super activity.  Wes said he would be able to go if we schedule it at the end of July or later.  Crew is looking at a water based activity.   Florida Sea Base is too far and expensive.

 

4)       From Mr. Todd’s email:  T-shirts need to be finally approved.  40 shirts with the logo that was sent out are priced at $399.60 ($9.99/ea).  This is for a one color front / one color back design.  Are we doing this or not? No update.

 

5)      “Lost Pines” water facility near Broad Creek was offered to the crew as a day event.  Need to postpone until warmer weather. No Update; need to schedule a date.

 

6)      Paint Ball:  We need to set up a date and decide if we want to go to a facility or to an area near Wesley’s church. We would need to borrow or buy guns if we did this option. Several scouts interested. 

 

7)      The crew has a face book account (759crew).  We can use this to contact other crews in an attempt to set up a network so we can share events.

 

8)      Need to schedule a repelling date with Bob Gallows.  Tentatively scheduled for May 8, 2010.  This is a low cost event.

 

9)      Mall Event:  Event is scheduled for February, but a venue has not been acquired at this time. 

 

10)  Elections: Will be held the first meeting in February.

 

Fundraising:

 

1)      The crew is considering the following fundraisers: concessions at Navy or Terps, restaurants bake sales, basketball tournaments, spaghetti dinners, basket bingo.  Terps basketball is scheduling now; need a minimum of 10 people to work.  We can also work Ravens games; Ashleigh will get more details.

 

2)      Car show is still being planned out.

 

Announcements:

 

Rechartering:  $10.90due from each crew member and adult no later than Nov. 30

Possible future activities: splash down, batting cage, paint ball, camping, hiking, mini golf, rappelling, climbing wall, four wheeling (ATV), horseback riding, snowmobiling, kayaking/canoeing, rafting, snow tubing, snow skiing/boarding, water skiing/wake boarding, backpacking, hiking, SCUBA intro (and beyond), shooting, archery.
