Troop 759 Activities Coordinator’s Report

Upcoming Events:

2010:

January 19  - Court of Honor – to be held at the regular Tuesday meeting.

January 22-24 Skiing at Timberline - Price $165.00 per person, as previously announced.  $85 deposit should have been paid by now.  Balance of $80.00 due January 10, 2010.

January 29-30 - Klondike Derby is set for January 29-30.  We’ll need to get this organized in the next few weeks.  This event is at McKeldin Park again.

February 7 - Scout Sunday (may be Feb. 14 at some churches)

February 12-14 - Winter Cabin Camping - Brown Lodge at Camp Rodney.  We have the rifle range reserved.    We will need to develop a program for the evening.

The committee approved purchasing 2 bolt-action single shot .22 rifles for the troop so we have enough rifles to hold out own events.  Camp Rodney does not supply rifles, but we have to buy ammunition from them on site.

Wem ust provide your own rifles and targets.  Only .22 bolt action, single shot, rifles may be used on the rifle range. Clips or tubular magazines are not permitted.  Rifles must be checked in with campmasters and will be kept locked up except during usage.  Ammunition must be purchased at camp.  Do not bring your own. 

February 20 – National Pike Mall Show – Columbia Mall (10 AM – 4PM)  - see the event flyer.  We need to decide if we are going to participate and get in our registration form.

February 27 and March 6 - Scouting For Food:

We have reserved the Safeway Store at Long Gate for both Saturdays from 9 AM until 1 PM.    I have been assured that we have the same area to cover as in the past 5 years.  Let’s work on continuing our success as the leading unit in the Council.

Other Topics:

• High Adventure Camp:  As of December 22, we have 5 scouts and one adult wanting to go to Carolina Sea Base.  We need another adult leader or we cannot file an application.  Time is of the essence.
• We have filed a reservation for the Star-Spangled Banner Camp-O-Ree at Ft. McHenry October 1-3, 2010.  $10 per person deposit, non-refundable.  The $35 event cost is the same whether we camp in an area park or just attend for the day.  I signed us up for 3 adults and 9 youth members.  We are not required to fill in more specific  information until this spring.  We can add more members to the roster but we should have the roster set by July 1.
