Troop 759 Activities Coordinator’s Report
September 21, 2009
Upcoming Events:
September 22-29 - Troop Elections – to be held during troop meetings
September 26 – Webelos-O-Ree Prep – this is a boy-led event that will help Webelos Scouts and their leaders prepare for Webleos-O-Ree in late October. Sean Eubanks is the adult POC. I believe Ian Bullinger is the boy leader assigned. Class A uniforms are required. This is a key recruiting event so we need to put out our best effort.
September 27 – Adult Archery Instructor Training - the Adult archery certification class is scheduled for Sunday September 27 starting at 1 PM at the Heart of Maryland Bow Hunters at 7930 Henryton Rd, Marriottsville, MD 21104. We need as many adults as practical to be range trained because Mr. Warner will be away for WOR and Mr. Strem may also be scheduled out of town – and we are the only trained leaders.
October 2-4 – Whitewater Rafting – this is being managed by Dale Walker. I am not sure who the boy leader is.
October 9-11 – National Pike JLT – Troop 882 meeting hall site, Lisbon, MD - Please let Mr. Warner know if you need to attend the training or if you have been through the training and you want to be on staff.
October 16 – Washington DC: Capitol, Secret Service, VOA – this is a Friday and schools are closed for the MTSA. We need to coordinate this and make arrangements so we can line up this event. For this we need the leadership of Mr. Coffelt and Mr. Williams and a few adult volunteers willing to sacrifice a vacation day to provide supervision and transportation.
October 23-25 - Webelos-O-Ree – Broad Creek – mark this on your calendars. This event will be held at Camp Saffran. We will be managing archery again. Registration due October 12, 2009. We need to assign adult and boy leaders. $12.00 per Scout or Adult Leader (includes patch) - $8.00 per Adult not wanting patch. I am not sure this applies to us as leaders & volunteers, but there is some cost for camping. We have requested the Lookout cabin & campsite again.
November 6-8 – Williamsburg/Yorktown, VA historic Site Trip - Schools are closed for a professional work day on Nov. 6 so we can use this as an opportunity to expand our activities on this trip. We need two adults to help set up and lead this event.
Skiing has been booked for Jan. 22-24. Schools get out early on the 22nd and schools are closed on the 25th.
Klondike Derby is lining up for January 29-30.
Winter Cabin Camping is set for Feb. 12-14 at Brown Lodge at Camp Rodney.
