Minutes for March 16, 2010 Committee Meeting

Attendees: Mary Bullinger, Belinda Byrns, Todd Coffelt, Marcelle Coleman, Brandon Conway, John Dittman, Sean Eubanks, Colin Fugate, Andrew Herman, Paul Hartman, Gary Romsaas, Brian Smith, Randy Strem, Dale Walker, Howard Warner, Gy Williams. Meeting started at 7:59 pm and ended at 8:54 pm.
Old Business: Howard will send out another request for training and vehicle updates. Only 2 families have responded.
Previous Minutes: Minutes were submitted and approved.
Committee Chair’s Report: Todd is planning to tell council that we will run a station if we can camp at the Fort during the Fort McHenry anniversary event. Todd is also going to see if council will give recognition to the troop for the excellent Scouting for Food achievement. Possible date is March 30th.
Treasurer’s Report: Marcelle said that 2 checks were received and 2 were written.
Scout Credits: No updates.
Scout Master’s Report: Brian said that he is happy with the direction that the troop is moving. Cabin camping was a good event. The new scouts should be a nice addition to the troop
Green Bar Report: Will be held on March 21st. Green Bar notes have been emailed as of this writing.
Advancement Chairperson Report: The new eagle work book is not at the Dorsey Scout Store. Dale is to check to see it the troop link is valid. Note; the link on the troop web page was verified to be the current work book.
Merit Badge Counselors Report: Counselor list has been updated. It was posted on the web page 2-23-2010. No updates.
Activities Coordinator:
1) Howard will provide JLT contact (Jack Estrem) to Sean.
2) Hike is planned for April 16-18, but the date conflicts with Mount Hebron’s cleanup. Committee will ask Greenbar if they want to reschedule for another date and possible make it a day hike.
3) Need to schedule swim test.
Quartermaster’s Report: Nothing to report.
Roundtable Minutes: Council is pushing “A scout is reverend” event April 30-May 2.
Troop Information Manager Report:
1) The troop face book account is now a group account named Troop 759 Ellicott City. The “troop SevenFiveNine” account was an individual account which has been cancelled.
2) Dale is asking that everyone check out the new account to see if it is working and/or will meet our needs.
To do:
1) Get a spare for the trailer. No update
2) The troop needs updated adult training and vehicle information. Please send the following information to Howard:
-A list of vehicles (make, model) you may use to transport boys and the tag number of each vehicle.
-Driver's license number (and your spouse if they also drive any scouts other than your own kids to any activities other than troop meetings). The year of expiration is also helpful.
-Name of your insurance company.
-Do you meet or exceed BSA insurance minimum requirements (yes/no)
Here are the BSA insurance rules for autos:
All vehicles MUST be covered by a liability insurance policy. The amount of this coverage must meet or exceed the insurance requirement of the state in which the vehicle is licensed. (It is recommended, however, that coverage limits are at least $100,000 combined single limit.) Any vehicle carrying 10 or more passengers is required to have limits of $500,000 single limit.
Note: The Driver Information will be maintained in confidence and will be released only as needed to secure tour permits.
Miscellaneous:
1) The pizza fundraiser will be held in May with an early June pickup. No update.
2) Camp Ware has a new science and communication merit badge program. Marcelle wants to send Miles and was wondering if anyone else would be interested in going this summer. No updates.
3) Doug presented his eagle project to the committee. The committee approved it.
Next committee meeting is scheduled for April 19, starting at 7:45 pm at Hebron House.
