December 2010/ January 2011 Roundtable Notes
1) Area Scouter - Are you seeing too many articles about Troop 944, and you wonder why there's never any info about any other District Troop? :) If you have any news or interesting info. that you would like to have put into the Area Scouter please contact Lynn Galloway at Areascouter@yahoo.com and put Area Scouter in the subject line.
2) Cub Scout Day Camp Registration - Registration for Day Camp is going on now! To register, please go online to www.NPDayCamp.com to register. Boy Scouts are asked to pay $20 for their shirt.
3) Scout Night 2011 at the Baltimore Blast - Sat. Jan. 29, 2011 (after Klondike) at 7:35 PM, at the 1st Mariner Arena. Tickets cost just $16 each, with $3 going back to the BAC.
4) 2011 Council Volunteer Recognition Award Reception - On Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Martin's Valley Mansion. Cost is $60
5) 2011 Trainer's EDGE and Development Conference - This is a one-day course, held on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, that is designed to improve teaching and presentation skills. It's open to all who are interested, and is required training for NYLT and Wood Badge Staff. If you choose to take this , you will be required to prepare a 10-12 minute presentation from any BSA material. 7) University of Scouting - Are you interested in earning a Bachelors Degree in one day. You can earn this on Sat., March 12, 2011 at Carroll County Community College in Westminster, MD. For more info. go to Baltimorebsa.org to find out more.
8) Spring AdVenturee - This outing is taking place at Camp Tuckahoe, the weekend of March 25-27, 2011. Registration is $10 per person.
9) A Scout is Reverent Retreat - taking place at Camp Spencer the weekend of April 29- May 1, 2011
10) Powder Horn - this High Adventure Skills training is taking place on two weekends during the Spring. weekend 1 is April 29 - May 1, 2011 at Camp Saffran and weekend 2 is May 13 - 15, 2011 at Camp Spencer
11) National Youth Leadership Training - at Broadcreek on April 8 - 10, 2011 and May 20-22, 2011. Cost is $200
12) Philmont Training Center - Are you interested in taking one of the many courses that are offered at the Philmont Training Center? Philmont isn't only a high adventure spot it is also a training location, where you can take a myriad of courses. 13) Family Friends of Scouting Presenter Training - Are you interested in helping to give the Family Friends of Scouting Presentation to our troop and others in our area? There will be a training asession this Wed., Jan. 19, 2011 at Glenelg united Methodist Church, from 7-7:45 PM.
14) 2011 National Pike District Mall Show, "A New Century" - On Feb. 26, 2011, the Mall Show will be taking place at the Columbia Mall. Hours are from 10AM - 4PM.
